Florida Gov. Rick Scott proposes to repeal the Florida drug trafficking law and monitoring system before it begins.
He says the program created before he took office has no state funding, is complicated by contract challenges, is unproven and could impinge on innocent people's privacy.
The Democratic senators urge the Republican governor to allow the program to operate as it does in similar ways in 34 other states.
U.S. Sens. Bill Nelson of Florida, Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, Charles Schumer of New York and Joe Manchin of West
Virginia made the request.
