BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Democratic U.S. Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia will be keynote speaker at the Alabama Democratic Party's Jefferson Jackson Dinner.

The dinner will begin with a reception at 6 p.m. Thursday at The Sheraton Hotel ballroom in Birmingham. Warner will speak following the dinner, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Warner is to be introduced by Alabama Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks, the Democrats candidate for governor.

The 55-year-old Warner is the former governor of Virginia. He gave the keynote address at the 2008 Democratic Party National Convention.
