The last day for an application to be accepted for absentee voting in the County Commissioner District 4 Special Election is Thursday, May 17, 2012. All applications must be in the Absentee Election Manager’s Office by 4:30 p.m. on this date. Voters must specify on their application which election they are requesting and their reason for voting absentee. Applications can only be accepted in person by the actual voter or by U.S. Mail. Only one application per envelope is allowable. Applications do not have to be witnessed, but must be signed or “marked” by the actual voter.
For applications received in person, the voter will immediately be given their ballot. For applications received by U.S. mail, the ballot will be mailed to the address indicated on the application. Identification is required, and the affidavit envelope containing the ballot must be notarized or have two witness signatures. Return of ballots can be accepted by hand delivery by the actual voter or U.S. mail until Monday, May 21, 2012. On May 22, 2012, ballots can only be accepted by U.S. Mail; no hand delivery is allowable.
