MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Temperatures approaching 100 degrees aren't stopping about a dozen Republicans from marching outside the Alabama Education Association headquarters in Montgomery.
Organizer Rick Sellers says the group is protesting AEA's effort to turn out Democratic voters for Republican Robert Bentley in Tuesday's runoff for governor. He says he hopes it will cause a backlash and bring out true Republicans who hadn't planned to vote.
Sellers, who's a Bradley Byrne supporter, says the group plans to keep up its protests through Tuesday. The group was joined Friday by a former executive director of the Alabama Republican Party, Marty Connors, and Republican National Committeeman Paul Reynolds.
AEA Executive Secretary Paul Hubbert says his organization has been hospitable, including inviting the protesters inside to use the restroom.
