U.S. Chamber Endorses Bright for Congress

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today the U.S. Chamber of Commerce announced its endorsement of Representative Bobby Bright for re-election in Alabama, praising his record of supporting the state’s businesses and workers.

“In just one term, Bobby has already shown a strong record of standing up for businesses and workers of Alabama during some of the state’s most challenging economic times,” said Bill Miller, the U.S. Chamber’s senior vice president and political director. “He has a common sense approach to job creation and getting America back on the road to recovery.”

A strong proponent of fiscal responsibility, Congressman Bright is pushing to spur business growth and job creation in Alabama by advocating for competitive tax rates for businesses and trade expansion.

In Congress, Bright stood up for the state’s businesses and workers by opposing a financial reform bill that will cut off credit to small businesses, voted against an energy policy that will stifle job growth, and stood against a health care measure that will fail to control costs.

“On issues ranging from competition in the health care industry, to lowering taxes, to reducing energy costs, Alabama’s businesses and workers have a tireless advocate in Bobby Bright,” Miller said.

The U.S. Chamber plans to play a major role nationwide in the 2010 elections, endorsing candidates who have demonstrated consistent support for America’s job creators and will work to advance a pro-growth agenda in Congress. In 2008, 213 of the 265 Chamber-endorsed candidates (81%) were elected.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
