Riley Plays a 2010 House Election Card with Lewis Appointment

This in from the Houston Co. Democratic Party:

Here we go again! Gov. Bob Riley and the GOP are once again meddling in Wiregrass Democracy. First Riley and his cronies kick out Sen. Harrianne Smith because of her support of Congressman Bobby Bright after they endorse her opponent. She again is a threat to their hand-picked candidate.

Now because polls show Benjamin Lewis is losing to a Democrat, he is promoted and another hand-picked candidate will be selected by them to run in his place. Lewis’ appointment is a great disappointment to the Houston County BAR. Lewis is barely qualified and has scant experience to serve the bench. Riley’s appointment hurts our citizenry.

The GOP talks about the Democratic Party working aggressively to hijack candidates, but what are they doing in the Wiregrass, manipulating the election to suite them. The general public in the Wiregrass needs to wake up and vote their best interest. The state GOP has abandoned the Wiregrass. What has Riley and his cronies done to help the Houston County area get businesses and industry? Where are the jobs they promised during campaigning? We are being used to feed their hunger for power, but we receive no big factories or industries to provide our people with jobs in return.

“It is time for the general public to vote, not a select GOP party leaders”, Says Houston County Democratic Chair Jennifer Adams. “The people of the Wiregrass are still part of a democracy and they have a full slate of Democrats to considers and vote in November. Send the GOP a message,” concludes Adams.

Tim You don't even know what you are typing.Riley is wayyyy out of control. He has done things I have never heard of a governor do. It is a shame to see him lie to every ones faces. This is his lame-duck year, He thinks he can get away with anything. I wonder how much he really got? 13 million that we know of. Just to do what he is doing??? You can tell he is lying to everyone. Soooo you don't know the whole truth. Riley is nothing but a liar and a cheat.

Sen. Smith got what she deserved. She betrayed her party, showed she was a poor looser and intelectually immature, tied her self to Ronnie Gilley's ship, and then pouts when she is tossed out of the party. As far as the Governor's recent appointment, good for him. He is doing what he said he would!!! Rare for a politician. Go Governor!!!!

I cannot believe this was put out here as if it was reporting news. This is an opinion only and it continues to show that they are in Gilley's back pocket for putting this out here as if it was news. Shame on you.

Im voting GOP on the national level. Bobby Bright helps the Dems maintain a majority in Congress and push through Obama's socialist agenda. As to local politics, I still wonder why a "national entertainment destination" is dependent on one bingo hall. I thought is was all about country music etc.

I can't believe the Dothan Eagle would write an artical like this one. Please just give us the facts as true journalist and quit bashing us with your opinion. Not everyone shares your view, and the people of the wiregrass with the ability to see through the smoke are tired of reading your inflamatory comments and articles. I believe that Country Crossing would be a great benefit to the Wiregrass area, but I also believe that the Bingo machines were illegal. I can assure you, if the machines were legal, CC would be up and running.
