Sparks has no preference for Ala. GOP opponent

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The state's new Democratic nominee for
governor, Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks, says it doesn't matter to him who wins a Republican runoff for governor.

Former two-year college chancellor Bradley Byrne will be in a runoff for the GOP nomination July 13. It will take a recount from Tuesday's election to see if his opponent will be Robert Bentley or Tim James. The unofficial results show Bentley leading James by 208 votes.

Sparks held a news conference at his campaign headquarters Wednesday, where he said he plans to run a positive, clean campaign
in the general election. He said he will continue to stress the creation of an education lottery like Georgia's and the taxation and regulation of gambling.
