Governor Bob Riley
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Ethics Commission says it will look into a complaint that a former Republican Party official filed against Republican Gov. Bob Riley.
Former GOP Steering Committee member Bradley Unruh of Warrior received a letter from the commission Monday saying it is looking into his complaint about state legal business going to a law firm where the governor's son-in-law is a partner. Unruh told The Huntsville Times that he's pleased.
Riley's communications director, Jeff Emerson, says the governor hasn't received a copy of what he considers a frivolous complaint. Emerson says Unruh admits having worked for gambling operator Milton McGregor.
Ethics Commission attorney Hugh Evans wrote Unruh that the case will be assigned to an agent soon, but it may not be resolved quickly because of a backlog.
