Funeral Home: HOLMAN FUNERAL HOME OF OZARK

Mrs. Nina Jo Newman Searcy of the Bertha Community died Sunday morning, January 10, 2010 in Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation in Dothan. She was 83. Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Tuesday, January 12, 2010, from New Hope Baptist Church with Reverend W. M. Todd officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Mrs. Searcy’s body will be placed in the Church one hour prior to service time on Tuesday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Monday evening. Mrs. Searcy was born September 22, 1926 in Dale County to the late J. C. Newman and Mary Ellen Skipper Newman. She worked with White Knight Manufacturing Company in Ozark for thirty-two years. Following her retirement from White Knight, Mrs. Searcy worked with Pride Craft Enterprises in Enterprise for seventeen years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Ralph Searcy, Jr., three brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include her daughter, Sara Snell of Skipperville; her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Shelia Searcy of Skipperville; grandchildren, Monique and Tim Phipps of Ozark, Stephanie and Coley Pinyan of Skipperville, Leanne and Richard Pinyan of Echo, Carrie and Mike Cole of Ozark, John Chisholm of Bertha, and Allison Davies of Birmingham; great grandchildren, Brad and Erica Phipps, Eric Phipps, Cody Phipps, Erin and Clint Wright, Trevor Pinyan, Casi Cole, Sofi Cole, and Cory Chisholm; one great-great granddaughter, Adalynn Phipps; one sister, Ouida Grantham; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Margaret Newman, Kada and Jean Newman, Lamar and Nina Newman. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation in Dothan for their special care. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Mr. Bill Grantham, 826 County Road 7, Newville, Alabama 36353.
