Steven D. “Stevie” Johnson, a resident of Cottonwood, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at his home. He was 35. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church in Cottonwood with Revs John Smith and Van Clack officiating. Burial will follow in Cottonwood City Cemetery with Southern Heritage directing. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009 at Southern Heritage. Stevie was born July 10, 1973 in Houston County where he lived his entire lifetime. He was a son of the late Willis Johnson and Doris Traylor Johnson. He was a member of Cottonwood Rescue Team and was formerly employed with Southeast Alabama Medical Center and Care Ambulance. Stevie along with his many talents blessed the people of Calvary Baptist Church in the Cottonwood Community with his singing and love of people. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cottonwood. Survivors in addition to his mother, include a brother, Will Johnson, Cottonwood; sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda and Scott Dorriety, Hartford; aunt, Dorothy Anderson, Cottonwood; uncle, Earl Traylor, Dothan; cousins, Debra, Ronnie, Bo, Myrna; nieces, Megan Dorriety, Lara Leah Farmer, Shea Farmer, Sierra Anderson; nephews, Hunter Dorriety, Kile Miliner, Danny Anderson, J.C. “Scooter” Anderson; many special friends. Serving as active pallbearers will be Mike Price, Michael Price, Josh “Buddy” Kirkland, Rodney Anderson, Andy Farmer and Van Granger.
