2013 Cottonwood Dragway Jr. Dragster Champion

Robin Wakefield shared with us information from the season points finale at Cottonwood Dragway in Cottonwood Alabama for racers and the junior dragster racers. Jr dragster racers range in age from eight to fifteen- years-old that were in competition for track champion Saturday October 26th.

Thirteen-year-old Matthew Wakefield won the race and ultimately accumulated enough points to become the 2013 cottonwood junior dragster track champion! He is an honor student at Graceville high school .

By winning the track championship he will receive golden ticket and will compete in a race for track champions in Montgomery on Thanksgiving weekend at the Tindle Leftover Nationals at Montgomery motorsports park.

His parents wish him the best of luck as well as the other drivers. This is a wonderful family sport. All the (kids) racers cheer each other on and congratulate each other for winning and cheer you on next time if you lost. Its good to see them be friends before and after the races and leave the rest on the track. cars range in times from 15 seconds to 7.90 seconds and speeds from 40-to over 85 mph. Matthews car is a 7.90 car 85mph.
