Fourth graders at Headland Elementary School put the textbooks down and went on a field trip to learn about science.
Students went to the ponds at the Wiregrass Research and Extension Center.
They used some of the same equipment scientists use to measure the water temperature, find the clarity of the water and identify different clouds.
Educators say this is a good opportunity to apply science to real life situations.
