(Dothan, AL)--The Dothan City School Board is narrowing down their search for contractors to design a new sports complex at Northview High School.
"We've met with architect firms, we've talked with the coach and the principal, and now the board wants to make sure this is done right," Dothan City School Superintendent Tim Wilder said. "We have to meet the needs before the wants, and then work from there," he said.
The project cost could cost anywhere from $700,000 to $1,000,000 and take up to one year to complete. The goal of the sports complex is to create new locker and weightlifting rooms, as well as bathrooms.
School officials say they want to new building to be functional and safer for students.
"We were having problems with students getting hurt in the older buildings, and we want to prevent that from happening from here on out," Northview High School Football Coach LaBrian Stewart said.
School board members are looking at the best design and cost per square foot when it comes to choosing the contractor.
