First Pay Increase in 5 Years for Houston County School Employees

Houston County Schools employees will soon see a small increase on their paychecks.

Kerry Bedsole, chief school finance officer explains:

"This year is a 2% raise for all of our employees that we implement October 1st for their October paycheck. It doesn't seem like a whole lot when you hear '2%' but it does mean something to employees that haven't received anything for several years."

The last time employees saw a pay increase was more than five years ago in 2008. That budget provided a 7% raise.

Bedsole says the increase will help soften the blow of rising retirement withdrawal from paychecks.
