(Dothan, AL)--Hundreds of people came out to the Dothan Civic center on Thursday to celebrate Dothan High School's 100th birthday. Principal Matt Humphrey said the anniversary is a landmark in many ways.

"In order for a school to be successful it takes stakeholders to be a part of the school in order to make one hundred years happen," Humphrey said. " Volunteer work, finance management and constant assistance have all contributed to the success of our school," he said.

Humphrey said heritage and history are two of the most important things in acknowledging the school's centennial anniversary.

"This is a monument in history, this is an opportunity to showcase what has happened to our school over the last 100 years to our students," Humphrey said.

Event organizers would like to thank all graduates of Dothan High School for helping to keeping Dothan vibrant and prosperous.
