Local school officials say they have seen a steady early enrollment period this year.
Dothan City Schools Superintendent Tim Wilder says more than 9,200 students are registered. He says that number is much higher than last year, but can’t explain what is causing the change.
Houston County Schools Superintendent Tim Pitchford says enrollment has been average. He says new district lines have changed the additional amount of students that registered in previously year.
Student transfers and withdrawals could change enrollment numbers throughout the school years. Officials say that change wouldn’t be drastic enough to affect federal funding.
