Ozark residents will soon go to the polls to vote on an eight-mil tax referendum. If it passes, the additional money will be used on plumbing and electrical work at city schools but, if it fails, three schools will be forced to close.
One of those in danger of closing is Mamie Thompkins School. It is an early education center with only kindergartners under one roof. Teachers there say there is no better starting point for five year olds in Ozark and it would be a tragedy if it closed.
This is the same tax referendum Ozark postponed before the governor's tax vote last September. Now officials say it's time to get behind it to help the children of the town.
