MONTGOMERY—Award-winning performer Vicki Lawrence will bring her beloved character “Mama” to Troy University’s Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts on Thursday, Oct. 15, to launch the theatre’s 2009-2010 season.
Single tickets for “Vicki Lawrence and Mama: A Two-Woman Show” will go on sale Oct. 1.
The performance features both Lawrence and “Mama” in a mixture of stand-up comedy, music and observations about real life.
Lawrence was a high school senior when chosen to become part of the now-legendary cast of “The Carol Burnett Show.”
During her time on the show, Lawrence created the role for which she is most remembered—Thelma Harper or “Mama,” a beloved character who would inspire her own sitcom, “Mama’s Family.”
Single tickets range in price from $20 to $45. For more information regarding ticket availability, call the theatre at (334) 241-9567. Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. to noon.
“Vicki Lawrence & Mama: A Two-Woman Show” is sponsored by the Montgomery Advertiser and Touch of Class Limousine and Transport
