Construction projects are underway and on schedule at several older schools in one Wiregrass district.
A new roof is nearly completed at Kinston School.
In addition, the K-12th grade facility is being retro-fitted with an updated central heat and cooling system.
Several classrooms are also being upgraded.
School Superintendent, Dr. Linda Ingram, says Kinston, along with projects at Zion Chapel and New Brockton are part of the district's efforts to improve the overall learning environment.
“The roof is on. During the Christmas holidays they tore down the ceiling in the hallways. They re-sheet rocked it. Put in light fixtures. [They did a] terrific job and they cleaned-up," said Dr. Ingram.
Just last year, a multi-million dollar restoration project was completed at New Brockton High School.
