How to Help

Houston County Commissioners have agreed that schools need help, but will there be a tax increase? The answer is still pending.

The Dothan City Board of Education requested to hold an election this fall, for a $3 million property tax increase.

Even though it is mandated by law for the commission to hold the election, Mark Culver, chairman of the commission, urges residents not to panic.

The election for the tax increase will be held Sept. 10 of this year.
