Henry County’s NJROTC programs are still up in the air. The program will continue for at least another year but after that, it will be up to residents if they want to save it from being eliminated.
Residents will soon vote on an old mil and three additional mils.
Two of the three proposed mills will fund the program, one for Headland and one for Abbeville.
The school board would disperse the third mil between schools.
“It is an opportunity for the county to step up and say yes, we are going to support the school system north and south sides of the county which is particularly been some sort of divide I think this is an opportunity for the county to come together as a whole," says Abbeville NJROTC instructor, Commandor Ran Merrit.
Officials say if the mils are passed, residents with a $200,000 home would pay an extra $5 a month.
Voting on the mils will take place some time in the next 90 days.
