It is the third year in a row the program has received high marks. Last year, Dothan was home to only one pre-k program but thanks to the help of grants Dothan now has three.
The programs help children prepare for kindergarten by helping them learn sight words, counting and social skills. Studies prove pre-k programs help increase retention numbers in the schools.
Brenda Guilford, Director of Brenda's Preparatory School, said, "We provide high quality pre-k, which means we have a certified teacher in the classroom and we have a low teacher-student ratio which is very important."
All three pre-k programs fill up quickly each year and have waiting lists.
The school system is hoping to continue expanding the program to accommodate more students.
