Two suggested layout plans for Carroll High School

Option one or option two? That's the question for many Ozark residents on which plan to give the go ahead for the new Carroll High School.

Michael Lenhart, the Superintendent of Ozark City Schools, says, "One of those options is to relocate the high school out near Highway 231 and the other one is to rebuild it right where it currently sits."

Lenhart and other city officials gathered with residents discussing two proposed sites for the new school.

Lenhart says, "Our purpose here tonight is to let the public see what we've been doing, what we've been up to and to bring them up to date so they stay with us in every step of the process."

Darlene Helms is an employee at Carroll High School and says she favors both plans, whether the new building call the current location home or on Highway 231.

Helms says, "I like the new site for some reasons for the location, you can get to it better from people, just to know where the locations at but the old site it’s been there for so long and everybody in the area, that's Carroll High School and that's where we want to go to school, so some people are leaning that way but I'm good either way, just as long as we get a new high school."

If you missed Thursday night's meeting another will be held Friday night at the Perry Recreation Center in Ozark.

This article contains no information about cost breakdown. This town is not exactly loaded. I think the school should stay where it is. That would eliminate spending money on more land when we already have it. Ozark is bleeding out. They need to keep things downtown. Schools anchor other businesses. Ozark has been slowly shifting west for years. If the old money in town would lighten up and let new businesses in, Ozark may actually survive. On a sidenote,if this Helms lady can babble like this and still work at a school that educates our children, no wonder most of them have a problem speaking well. She needs an English class herself. Why did WTVY use her quote to respresent the mindset in Ozark. Thanks for making all of us look like idiots! Some of us can actually make decisions and form complete sentences in the process.

I believe by building a new school off Roy Parker, you take away from the city's heart beat. Keeping it at the same location makes the students and parents access downtown, and keep their business there too.
