Overcoming The Academic Achievement Gap

National statistics indicate a widening academic achievement gap between the middle class and those children from low-income families.

Auburn University's College of Liberal Arts is working with Elba and three other cities statewide.

Auburn personnel are holding forums to determine the strengths and weaknesses in the respective public education systems.

Elba city school superintendent, Danny Weeks, along with clergy, parents and students discussed their concerns.

The auburn group will hold their final educational forum in Elba early next year.
