Rhyming Roadside Signs Popping Up in Iowa

It’s rhyme time along Iowa’s highways.

They're the roadside puns that were almost dead, until people in every single Iowa county resuscitated them.

And since they're either up in your county now - or soon will be - Eric Hanson took a road trip today.

They 'were' everywhere.

They were in Story County. And near the Minnesota border in Algona.

Ads for Burma Shave shaving cream. But Humboldt County's blacktops-and Polk County's tiniest town went 50 years without them.

Until “Our Iowa” magazine went to work. Prairie City now has one. So does Lake City.

One roadside chuckle per county.

Even the groaners.
