It is an explosive prank happening at supermarkets and stores across the country.
It's called "gallon smashing."
Jokesters walk into a store, grab gallon jugs of liquid, and then smash them on the ground while pretending to fall.
Police say a 19-year-old carried out the prank here at a Shop Rite in Newton, New Jersey.
Sergeant Michael Monaco of the Newton Police explains how that teenager carried out the prank. "He had two gallons of milk in his hands and threw them on the ground…He got up and walked away like nothing happened while his friends were video taping him on his cell phone."
Jason Logan may now be crying over his alleged spilled milk. He’s been charged with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct in connection with the Shop Rite "gallon smashing" incident.
While Youtube viewers may be getting a good chuckle from this prank, police say it's no laughing matter.
Monaco elaborates by saying, "When these gallon jugs go flying into the air they could land not only on the person who is throwing them but if there is any children elderly people in the area they could be struck by it and be injured."
This strange prank has also taken place at stores in Wildwood, New Jersey.
Shoppers say they don't think it's funny at all.
Don Bookholt of Newton reacts by saying, "its vandalism, pure and simple."
Shelly Messina, also of Newton, says that it “could scare people and people don't know what's going on and I don't like it."
police say store surveillance cameras captured logan in the act.
They also say they have the video he allegedly posted on facebook.
