The cover of the first issue of IDW's My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic comic, which sold over 100,000 copies.
The comic book adaptation of the latest “My Little Pony” animated series continues to experience good sales and support from fans.
In 2012, the first issue of the comic book “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” was released by IDW Publishing. The comic was based on the animated series of the same name, which has become successful with a wide-ranging demographic, including adults.
That first issue sold over 100 thousand copies and was one of IDW’s best-selling issues ever.
Several months later, the series is going strong against competition from powerhouses like Marvel and DC. In addition, a spin-off “micro” series focusing on individual characters from the series has also been launched.
Issue #4 of Friendship is Magic sold over 40 thousand copies, beating out other titles such as Wonder Woman and Daredevil.
Issue #2 of the Micro Series sold over 25 thousand issues, and beat out issues of comics such as Superboy and Venom.
And, the comic is not going anywhere anytime soon. Issues through number 9 of the parent series are planned, as well as several future issues of the micro-series.
