OCALA, Fla. (AP) -- Wildlife officials say a north Florida man killed a black bear after luring it to his yard with food.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reports that 48-year-old J.C. Calton faces misdemeanor charges of offering food to attract a black bear and taking and possessing a black bear.
FWC officers reported finding a large bear that had been killed with a broadhead arrow in the Ocala National Forest on Aug. 26.
The body appeared to have been dragged by a vehicle.
The officer's followed the path back to Calton's home, where the officers found a pool of dried blood and leftover corn and dog food.
The officers say Calton admitted to luring the bear to his yard the previous night and then shooting it with a bow and arrow.
