Thursday, it was announced by Paramount that IMAX 3D theatres across the country will be showing an extended-length preview of the next Star Trek feature film with showings of the upcoming Lord of the Rings prequel film.

No films were made that featured the casts of "Deep Space Nine," "Voyager," or "Enterprise," although characters from those shows did make small appearances in a couple of the films.
Starting on December 14th, before the showing of “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” those who go to IMAX 3D theatres will be treated to a 9-minute preview of the upcoming “Star Trek” feature film “Star Trek Into Darkness.”
“Star Trek Into Darkness,” a sequel to the 2009 reboot of the extremely popular science fiction franchise, will be released in theatres in May of next year.
