The Nintendo Wii U, which launches on Sunday, November 18th, is not only a console to play video games on. It also has the ability to function as an entertainment hub through a feature called “Nintendo TVii.”
The Wii U’s main controller is a touchscreen gamepad, a kind of cross between a classic-style video game controller and a tablet computer.
Nintendo TVii, controlled by this gamepad, will be able to access streaming video services such as Amazon Instant, Youtube, and Netflix. These will be integrated into one search—in other words, a user will be able to look for a specific television show or movie and Nintendo TVii will search through all of them to find it.
The gamepad can also access TV listings and can even function as a universal remote.
Sports fans will also have a feature to enjoy on Nintendo TVii. As you watch live sports on your television, you can use the gamepad to see stats and scores while you watch. In addition, a user can take a screen capture of a game and share it with friends.
The Nintendo Wii U launches in North America on November 18th.
