For some people the M.Y. Comic Show is the perfect place to show off their favorite costumes and makeup from their favorite comics.
Comic fans can take months to prepare their cosplay costume and makeup.
Cosplay is when people dress and accessorize as their favorite characters and often act in character too.
Inspiration for cosplay characters can come from comics, films, books or television programs.
M.Y. Comic Show is one of the biggest and most popular comic shows in Beijing.
This year's event is the 4th show and features more than 300 stands run by people from China and abroad.
Organizer of M.Y.Comic Hu Qianyu has worked in the comics industry for nine years and says he is amazed how quickly the home-grown Chinese comic scene is growing, and it's improving all the time.
The show offers some people the chance to parade their costumes and others the chance to stand and look.
There are also book stands, posters, costumes and accessories to buy.
Chen Heng is dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow from the film 'Pirates of the Caribbean'.
He says he has only just been inspired to take on his new character.
"Recently, I just viewed the whole series of the 'Pirate of the Caribbean' and I like the character of Captain Jack very much."
Chen Heng says there is a lot he likes about Captain Jack Sparrow.
"(I like) his distinctive charm, his feminine moves and his handsome look."
Some of the costumes are labors of love.
One woman is dressed in an ornate bridal gown. It was handmade by five people and took six months to make.
But not everyone is in character.
Secretary Shen Xiaona says she is having a lovely time and enjoying the costumes worn by other people.
"Cosers (comic fans dressed up in costume) are friendly if you ask to take their pictures. They are nice. It is as good as I imagined it would be."
As well as the fans there are also comic creators on hand to talk about their work and what inspires them.
Li Yun is a comic artist well known in China.
He says he loves what he does for a living.
"Just like inventors, they are not necessarily smart, but they have strong will power. If they love something, they will continue to love it until the end. No matter who I am an amateur or professional, not that I'm saying I am a professional, I'm still walking on this road, I really like it and I can not put down my drawing pen. This is important. I believe everyone can go this far as long as they have such spirit."
Li has already published several comic books.
He says he looks forward to meeting fans and hearing their comments.
And while it is busy inside the show there are many more people still waiting to get in.
