Every Wednesday, News 4 This Morning takes a look at the stories from our show that viewers and readers are talking about on our webchannel and related social media.
Monday morning, News 4 told you about a local neighborhood where fliers from the notorious racist hate group, the Ku Klux Klan, were found. Not only was that story the most read on our webchannel, but many of you spoke your mind on the surprising story. On our Facebook page, Victor Caine said, "There is no place for the KKK or supremist [sic] groups in the 21st century." Mary Boadwine expresses her opinion very clearly saying, "Not even duct tape can fix stupid."
Yesterday, we told you about tropical development in the Pacific Ocean. It wasn't even a depression yesterday, but now, Tropical Storm Barbara has formed near Mexico. Meanwhile, On our side of the Americas, the Atlantic Hurricane Season doesn't begin for a few more days...but on our Facebook page we asked what kind of tropical season you thought we might have. Joe Wilson believes that "...we are way over due. This year will indeed be bad." On the other hand, Sissy Kat says that it will be quote "nice and calm!!!!" For those curious, the official prediction from the Hurricane Center predicts 13 to 20 named storms in the Atlantic, with 7 to 11 becoming hurricanes and between 3 to 6 of those becoming major.
Monday, we showed you a story that crossed over video games with animals as Nintendo's Donkey Kong visited actual gorillas at the Los Angeles Zoo. It was part of a promotion for the newest Donkey Kong video game. We asked on Facebook and Twitter if there were any Donkey Kong gamers, and we got some responses. Randy Welch said that the Donkey Kong Country titles were some of the best on the Super Nintendo, where RareWare released 3 games in that series. And, on Twitter, Mark Kiehl said that the original Donkey Kong from the arcade was a great game, and that “ Many players still enjoy it and some still play in competitions (Kong Offs, for example) to this very day.”
Tuesday, we showed you video of a cheese roll competition from the United Kingdom. In that video, you can see people rolling down the hill, some of them taking some rough and nasty falls! But in the end, the cheese was caught by an American veteran from Colorado. On our Facebook page, we asked you if you would participate in such a unique event. Thomas Ratcliffe said that he would love to participate in something like this! And, Shelley Brooks focused on the video saying, simply, "Too funny!"
Last week, the News 4 This Morning crew of Chris, Demetria and Paul, along with Reginald Jones competed against the Rose Hill Senior Center in a Wii Sports bowling tournament! It was a hard-fought clash of spares and strikes, but in the end, the seniors at Rose Hill emerged victorious. Many of you responded online to this story. Michael Mcclean said on our Facebook page “that in the video of the story, that you four looked like you were walking to the showdown at the OK Corral!” And Donna Rice, one of the seniors that we bowled against, said that we we really good sports at the center and quote "we appreciate your visit. Come again!"
