Man Gets Life for Shooting Deputy

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - A Tampa man has been sentenced to life in
prison for shooting and wounding a deputy during a home invasion
robbery.

A Hillsborough County judge gave 29-year-old Miguel Angel
Serrano four life terms Friday.

He was convicted earlier this month of nine counts, including attempted second-degree murder of a law enforcement officer and attempted felony murder, burglary of a dwelling and robbery.

Deputy Miguel Galarza responded to a 911 call at a Tampa apartment in October 2009.

Authorities say Serrano shot the deputy during a struggle over the deputy's gun.
