Woman Sentenced After Kidnapping a 4-month-old

A 21-year-old Norfolk woman has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for attempting to kidnap a friend's 4-month-old boy.
According to court documents, Jaquissa Bryant took the boy from Norfolk in April of 2011 while she was babysitting. Court records say Bryant tried to present the infant as her own biological child to her family in Alabama.
Records say Bryant misled law enforcement by saying the boy had died and she had dumped the body in a trash bin in South Carolina. Authorities later found the boy in Jackson, Ala. The infant was safe and was later returned to his mother in Norfolk.
Bryant pleaded guilty to attempted kidnapping and making false statements to law enforcement. She was sentenced Tuesday.
