Woman Pleads Guilty in Nashville Kidnapping

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - An Alabama woman has pleaded guilty in Nashville federal court to kidnapping a 4-day-old baby in 2009.

Under a plea agreement Monday, Tammy Silas of Ardmore, Ala.,
faces 20 years in prison. The agreement was approved by U.S.
District Judge Todd Campbell.

Yahir Anthony Carrillo was kidnapped on Sept. 29, 2009, after his mother was attacked in her home with a knife and beaten by a woman claiming to be an immigration agent. The infant was recovered unharmed three days later at Silas' home in Ardmore.

Silas, who was to have gone on trial Tuesday, was never charged
in the attack. Her sentencing date was not listed in court papers.

Maria Gurrola, the mother, was treated for her injuries.
