BUFORD, Ga. (AP) - Firefighters say a woman in her late 40s died in a house fire in Buford.
Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge says the fire started late Saturday in the woman's
bedroom on the second floor of the home.
It caused heavy damage to that room and sent smoke, heat and soot throughout the home.
The fire had been going in the bedroom for a while before neighbors noticed smoke.
The woman lived alone and no one else was there when firefighters and police arrived.
Her body has been turned over to the county medical examiner for identification and determination of cause of death.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
