Windermere Town Council Approves New Police Chief

WINDERMERE, Fla. (AP) - An upscale Orlando suburb has a new
police chief, nearly a month after its former chief was arrested and later fired.

The Windermere Town Council officially approved Mike McCoy on
Tuesday as the town's new chief. He previously served as police chief for Orlando and public-safety director for Orange County.

Daniel Saylor was arrested Jan. 12 on charges of unlawful compensation for official behavior and official misconduct.

Authorities say he refused to investigate allegations of sexual battery of a child because it involved his friend.

Saylor faces up to 15 years in prison.
