Residents of Grand Forks, North Dakota are dealing with frigid temperatures after a blizzard swept through the area on Saturday (12-28) and brought fierce winds, ice, and temperatures below zero.
The blizzard was a return to the bitter cold after Friday's (12-27) short stint in the 30s. Authorities posted travel advisories on several highways in Grand Forks on Saturday- warning drivers of the dangerous driving conditions as the wind and snow created a haze that covered the area.
On Sunday (12-29),the sun came out, the wind speed diminshed to between five and fifteen miles per hour and temperatures reached a high of -11 degrees. Forecasters say the cold weather will continue through the end of the year, but temperatures are expected to rise above zero on New Years' Day.
