Web Wednesday: 4/3/13 – Trees, Videos, Ponies, Movies, & Hoops!

Viewers have responded with comments and views to stories on our webchannel about a trial involving beloved trees, the week’s major home video releases, Pony conventions, Presidential hoops, and a recent space launch.

Last month, Harvey Updyke Jr. was sentenced to three years for poisoning the trees at the popular Toomer’s Corner on the Auburn University campus. He was charged with criminal damage of an agricultural facility, which is a C-class felony. On our web-channel, viewer Suzy Q responded to the story with the comment, “I think the Updyke man should have to plant trees everyday he is on probation. I hope we never hear about him again, because I'm tired of hearing about him.”

As we do every Tuesday, the Morning show took a look at the major and notable home video releases of the week. Those included the hit “The Bible” miniseries, the 15th Pokemon feature film, and a collector’s set of Marvel superhero movies. On our Facebook page, Christy Davis said which one caught her interest with this comment, “I will definitely be buying The Bible. It was amazing and I would like to share it with the people who didn't or couldn't watch it on TV.”

And, here’s a look at some of other articles that are popular on our webchannel:

“My Little Pony Conventions Continue in Texas” is currently the most popular article in our news section, a story highlighting the latest of many conventions celebrating the hit animated series, “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.” It’s also currently the most read article in our Watercooler section, and sixth overall. On our Webchannel, user Roy Ant comments “I am going to the Salt Lake City pony con! I'm like 15 minutes away.”

Second in our Watercooler section and third in our news section is “President Obama Misses 20 of 22 Shots on Basketball Court.” As was reported, the President was only able to sink two shots while spending some down time on the South Lawn of the White House for Easter Sunday.

And, the most popular item in our World News section is “Soyuz TMA-08M to Launch Crew of 3 to Space Station.” The mission launched last Friday and made it to the Space Station faster than any mission before, only six hours. It carried an American astronaut and two cosmonauts to join three other crewmembers on the station.
