The Flintstones were the “modern, stone-aged family,” and they were followed by Jetsons, an animated sitcom set in a technologically-advanced future.

The Jetsons, animated by TV cartoon giant, Hanna-Barbera, premiered on ABC on September 23rd, 1962. It featured the Jetsons family in 2062's Orbit City. These included working-man George, wife Jane, teenage daughter Judy, boy genius Elroy, robot Rosie and loyal dog Astro.

Despite becoming a pop-culture icon later on, the original run of the Jetsons only lasted for 24 episodes before ending in 1963. However, in 1985, additional episodes were produced featuring the original voice cast. These episodes introduced an alien pet named Orbitty as well as other elements that distinguish these episodes from the original. Combined with the original, the series has a total of 75 episodes spread over two decades.

The Jetsons also had a theatrical animated movie that premiered in 1990, as well as a pair of earlier TV movies entitled The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones and Rockin' With Judy Jetson.
