Texas: West Houston Storms Bring Rain, Wind, Frequent Lightning

Severe weather has made its way into southeast Texas Tuesday night (4/2). The storm will move into the heart of the Houston area around 11 p.m. The heavy rain could cause street flooding.

Several counties to the west were under Severe Thunderstorm Warnings throughout the evening.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 11:00 p.m. Tuesday night for Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Harris, Jackson, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Polk, San Jacinto, Walker, Waller, Washington and Wharton counties.

The storm system is producing up to quarter-sized hail, strong winds and heavy rain.

Cloud-to-ground lightning could cause significant power outages overnight.
