One of the largest groups in the conservative Tea Party movement is hosting a fifth anniversary celebration in Washington.
Republican congresswoman Michelle Bachmann was a guest speaker at the Tea Party Patriots event Thursday.
She congratulated those in the audience for helping the Republican Party win back control of the House of Representatives in 2010.
The first Tea Party protests broke out in February 2009 when President Obama was pushing for the stimulus package.
The group instantly gave energy to the Republican Party, which lost the White House and seats in both the house and the senate in the 2008 elections.
