Tampa Man Charged In Ex-Girlfriend's Death

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says a Tampa man has been charged in his ex-girlfriend's death after a
witness trapped him in a room until deputies arrived.

Manuel Santiago has been charged with first-degree murder and
armed burglary.

Investigators say the 24-year-old man entered Taneka Humphrey's home using a key on Saturday morning.

He then allegedly entered Humphrey's bedroom, where she was sleeping, and cut her throat.

Authorities say an adult male who was sleeping in another room woke up and found the suspect standing alongside the victim's bed
with a knife in hand. The suspect had blood coming from his neck.

The witness held the door shut from the outside until deputies arrived.

Deputies have not released the witness' name.
