Survey: American Teachers Don't Want to Be Armed in Classroom

The vast majority of America's teachers don't want to carry a gun in the classroom, despite recent violence.

That's from a survey by School Improvement Network, a company that helps with teacher training.

It talked with nearly 11-thousand educators.

72-percent said they wouldn't carry a gun in school even if they were allowed.

36-percent of educators surveyed reported owning a firearm.

92-percent said they feel safe in school and believe their students feel the same.

But 88-percent said they would feel even more safe having an armed police officer on campus.

The survey was conducted in January, weeks after the December 14 Connecticut school shooting.
