Storms Bring Wind, Hail, Rain to Parts of Oregon


Heavy rain and lightning rolled into the Portland metro area Monday afternoon, bringing with it pockets of hail.

PGE reported power outages throughout the area. In Clackamas County, 340 customers were without power as of 9:00 p.m. In Multnomah County, 63 customers are powerless.

Meanwhile, Clark Public Utilities was reporting that more than 14,000 people in the Cascade Park/Orchards area were without power earlier in the afternoon. As of 8 p.m., all Clark Public Utilities customers had their power back on.

The pocket of weather stretched from Southwest Portland to almost Beaverton.

National Weather Service hydrologist Andy Bryant says as much as a third of an inch fell about 4 p.m. Monday. It moved across Battle Ground, Vancouver and moved to the south and east.

At the Mount Hood National Forest, it was snowing at about 5,000 feet.

Temperatures dropped dramatically with this front. The showers will diminish as the evening progresses.

But warmer temperatures and sunny skies are expected later in the week.
