September 1st - September 7th: National Waffle Week

The first week of September pays tribute to a staple of breakfast across the world: the waffle!

National Waffle week is an unofficial holiday from the week of the 1st through the 7th. A waffle, in its basic form, is cooked batter made in a unique shape--typically patterned with squares.

It can be served in its basic form, but is often eaten with syrup. Waffles can come with other toppings such as fruit, chocolate chip, butter and other.

Waffle House is just one restaurant in the United States that specializes in waffles of various kinds. Eggo is a very well-known brand of home waffles, and waffle irons are commonly sold in department stores and appliance outlets.
