Polar Plunge: Freezin' for a Reason

Participants in a polar plunge in Connecticut say they're freezin' for a reason.

Volunteers and community members collected money from family and friends to jump in a pond.

All proceeds are going to YMCA camp scholarships to help financially-burdened families attend summer programs.

Organizers say they had to cut through 6-and-a-half inches of ice with a chainsaw before anyone could take the plunge. Afterward, they were treated with hot soup and cocoa.
