Pair Charged After 179 Vases Disappear

ROBERTSDALE, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a brother and sister
are facing theft charges in connection with the disappearance of
179 bronze vases from cemeteries around Baldwin County.

Robertsdale police Sgt. Rex Bishop says 49-year-old William
Thomas Douglas Jr. and his sister, 40-year-old Amber Douglas
Jerkins, are both charged with first-degree theft of property.

He said both were being held Tuesday night in the Robertsdale Jail.

Bishop said the thefts took place in three cemeteries in Robertsdale and one in Foley. He said the vases were recovered.

Authorities say the vases, designed to hold flowers, have a high bronze content and have been stolen in unrelated cases in the
Mobile area in the past.
