Pacific Tropical Update: Genevieve Goes Post-Tropical, Hernan Becomes Hurricane

One tropical storm in the Eastern Pacific Ocean weakens, as another gains strength.

Hundreds of miles to the south and east of Hawaii, once-Tropical Storm Genevieve has become post-tropical as of Sunday, July 27th. The storm is expected to continue moving westward, and will not pose any threat to land.

Closer to North America, a system named Hernan has become a Hurricane. As of the latest advisory, Hernan was packing winds of 75 miles per hour. It was located over 300 miles from the Southern tip of Baja California. However, the storm is expected to track to the Northwest away from the continent, and thus pose no direct threat to land.
