Ozark Lake to Reopen After 2 Years of Renovations

OZARK, Ala. (AP) -- An Ozark lake is expected to open next month after two years of renovations to improve fishing.

The Dothan Eagle reports that Ed Lisenby Lake is set to open at sunrise on July 5 with a new dock at the main boat ramp and a renovated pier. City officials say the lake has been stocked with bluegill, shellcracker and bass fish.

The lake was closed in 2010 after state officials said it was overcrowded with undesirable species of fish like Pacu, white catfish and bullhead catfish.

Permit sales for the lake had plummeted since the late 1990s.

The 92-acre lake was drained up to 17 feet to restock and balance the fish population. It sits inside a 390-acre park and includes a 3-mile walking trail.
